Oops, just a few more random pics from 2009!

For those of you who read this blog I thought I'd add a few random pics from this past year that I found on my camera...

So I discovered this summer that I'm allergic to MANGOS! I had hives like this all over my body.

For Halloween we were a nun and a monk.

Oh my!

This handsome stud lost his expensive wedding ring within the first week of us being married!  So here's the replacement ring I gave him for his birthday.

Hopefully this one sticks around a little longer...wink, wink;)

CHRISTensen CHRISTmas Card!

Merry Christmas!
Here's our Christmas "card" for 2009!

2009 has been a crazy but wonderful year for us!
Here's our little update...

We have successfully survived 6 months of marriage!

We recently moved into a darling little apartment in American Fork, (pictures to come soon) close to both of our families :)

We are both still chuggin away at school (Andrew-UVU, Shan'tel-BYU)

We are currently teaching the 7 year olds in primary, (we are lucky if we make it out alive every Sunday!) and we LOVE them!

Andrew aced his HARD anatomy class this semester, and he did so well that they want him to TA anatomy classes for next semester.  (In fact, Andy's acing all his classes...wow!)

Andrew turned 25 (yesterday!).....old man!  To celebrate we went to Texas Roadhouse on Saturday, and the waiters made him sit on a saddle while they embarassed him in front of everyone for his birthday!  It was awesome.

Earlier this year Shan'tel spent 10 days in Montana and Wyoming touring and performing with the BYU Folk Ensemble.  She also had the opportunity to go to China for a month and perform there for the wonderful people of China.

Andrew currently works at a metal warehouse in Lehi, and Shan'tel is working at Shade

Shan'tel will be doing two internships next semester...one at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in the cardiac rehab department, and the other at a physical therapy clinic in Provo.

Only one semester left until Shan'tel graduates! YEA!!!! (and only a few more years till Andy graduates...yea!!! ;)

Andy and Shan'tel got to be Joseph and Mary in the American Fork city's Live Nativity! (see pics below)

This year the thing we are most thankful for is our families that we love so much!

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
We love you.
Love, the Christensen's

P.S.  Shoutout to my parents who have been married for 25 years this December! Congrats!

My Favorite Christmas Song

I heard this song on the radio a few years back,
and I've been searching for it ever since...
This is one of the sweetest Christmas songs I've ever heard...
Here's "The Gift" sung by Aselin Debison

NATIVITY!!!

So Andy and I had the opportunity to be Mary and Joseph for the annual American Fork City Live Nativity.  It was awesome!  We froze for 3 hours in the cold while people drove by to see it, but it was worth it!

No worries, the baby is not real ;)

Yes, there were real animals there too...

Cute little angels :)

Tourists in the stable! Oh my!

Mormon Messages

Here I am at school,
sneezing and coughing,
and supposedly writing 3 papers due in the next 25 hours...
but no...
instead I'm watching this.

~and~

Here's my new goal I decided to work on for 2010.

Just thought I'd share a little light on this December day :) .

A Little Somethin' about Rainbows

The evening before I got married I was feeling just a little stressed and was having some last minute doubts, ya know. I mean, I was excited, but I was just wondering if everything would turn out okay.

So Andy and I were out talking in my front yard that evening, and out of nowhere a rainbow apeared in the sky right over Andy. It was beautiful. I couldn't believe it! I took it as a sign from Heavenly Father that everything would be okay and that he approved of our decision.

That would have been enough for me, but every single month since we've been married (June, July, August, September, and October) a rainbow has appeared in the sky right around the 12th of the month (the day we got married). Pretty amazing.
Now everytime I see a rainbow I think of how much Heavenly Father loves me, and also how blessed I am to be married to Andy! I love him. . . and I love rainbows!

"Roses are Red, Violets are Green"

(A poem by Shan'tel, written for Andy)

I think I fell in love,
and he's sweeter than a dove.
big, he's strong, and he's quite long,
and he's usually playing some pretty song.
I think he's been all over the West,
but being with me is what he likes best.
I can easily turn him off or on,
and don't worry, his name is definately not John.
I'm pretty sure he drinks gas and not soda,
and if you couldn't tell by now,
it's your green Toyota Tacoma!!!
(Andy and his green truck are on the left :)

Zack is BACK

On August 25th my brother Zack came home from a 2 year mission for the LDS Church in Guatemala!
Wow!
One of the most touching and happy experiences in my life.
I think just about everyone in my family was crying
we were so happy.
I was so so so excited to see my brother
(one of my best friends) again!
It's good to have him home,
and I'm very proud of him.

Spring 2009 - China!

Cute Chinese kids

Sweet, the dancers let me try on an Irish costume

So, the month before I got married I spent in CHINA!
I had the amazing opportunity this past year
to be a part of the International Folk Ensemble at BYU,
and I played the banjo in the band.
It was incredible.
We performed all year long,
and then went on a 10 day tour to Wyoming and Montana.
Then in May we went to China for 4 weeks.
We traveled and performed for thousands of people in China.
They loved us, and we loved them!
I learned so much from that experience,
and I'm glad I was blessed with the opportunity
to share and stretch my talents
beyond anything I ever imagined!
